Parents of Carroll Academy we will be doing a petition drive the second week of April.  Mann, Travis and Carroll have joined together for the common cause of stopping the closure of our schools.  Individually we cannot win this fight but together in numbers we can make a difference.

"We are families defending our children's education", the members of S.A.I.S.D., are not doing this and therefore it is up to us as parents.  Parents, I realize that you work and you need your time to rest and begin the day again.  But, look into the eyes of your child/chldren and search you heart to give just a little bit more of your time to save our schools.

Believe me not one moment should go by that you or I should allow the board to lie to us.  Join us at the board meetings.  They are opened to the public to voice your opposition to the closures.  It is not a done deal.  Mann and Travis meet on Thursdays of each week to discuss and plan our next step or steps to change the closures.  Other schools have been successful in this endeavor and we can to.

As a parent of two children at Carroll, I am reaching out to community leaders and organization to stand with us at the board meetings.  I am still talking to other organization to join with us on keeping Carroll open.  It is at this time that all parents who want to "Keep the Doors Open to Henry Carroll" join in.

THIS JUST IN!

Michelle from Travis I applaud your hard work in bringing together the bands and the patrons from The Mix. Without funding no cause can generate the interest of those not effected. The freedom of information act allows Travis, Mann and Carroll to view information that empowers the awareness to change being informed.  Once again I thank Michelle.

Mann and Carroll talked to Minnie Sanchez from Senator Van de Putte's office.  Representative Trey Fischer has also been helpful with Mann's fight to remain open.  Even though Carroll's elected officials do NOTHING since speaking to Duron in the open forum at Carroll.

I go to McClendon's office and McNeil's and plead with them to do something.  Call me and lets speak about the closure.

Both women remain quiet on what is happening to Carroll's closure.  That is why I have decided to keep my vote from McClendon and McNeil well she is out since this is her second term.  Yeepie!!

I thank Mann for allowing me to speak on Carroll's behave even though we are not represented by their district.  Senator Van de Putt and Representative Trey Fischer are doing their part.

SAISD will have it's next meeting at 141 Lavaca parents come out and speak.  We can change this decision.  It will take more that a few but this can be turned around.

 What Can You Do?

The cost of saving Carroll comes with emotional and financial needs.  With that being said, if you have a business we need you to make copies to hand out at our petition drives.  If you know someone who can make a banner for Carroll contact them.

Take a petition with you and have friends and their friends to sign it.

Take a petition to your place of worship and have them sign.

Take a petition and have as many names that you can sign.  The final total  counts.  We are fighting for every vote.  With 350 plus students at Carroll and every parent takes a petition and get ten signatures. That is 3500? It is just that simple. A group effort makes it work.

Call em up!

Accountability.

The following information is given so that we begin calling those elected officals on a daily basis.  Letting them know you are not pleased with the proposed closing of Carroll.  Listen!!!  It is not done til we say so as parents and a community.

S.A.I.S.D.  board meeting come out in force and voice your what is wrong with closing Carroll versus Gates.  We as a community know that the area around Gates has too much activities going on and it is not just a night thing.  Openly prostitutes walk the streets and drug dealers are selling from their from their homes.  We will not get into the sex offenders...the number again 67.

We should all see the conditions the children at Gates are surrounded by and do something for those children.  We are allowing each child that remains at Gates more career choices other than those they dream to become.

Seeing the prostitute will that be a career a child would choose, how about a drug dealer..they keep plenty of money and drive a nice car and did not finish school.  God for bid that one child becomes a victim of a sex offender. These are the entities I see daily when I drive my children to and from Carroll.  I am disgusted.  Make the school board accountable.

The school board probably feels that allowing Carroll to stay open would be "political suicide". Honestly, I feel if that do not eat a little humble pie on saving Carroll. This decision will come back and kick them on their backsides.
